the best day of my boys life

Who needs Disney World when there is a house being torn down next door?

(slight exaggeration)

But it was a good day.

The house {essentially} next door was torn down.

there were 3 days of complete demolition.

The first day was clearly the most exciting.

The boys camped out in the morning and just watched.

Although, their attention span isnt the longest .. so it was a lot of watching.. playing.. collecting sticks.. then watching.. then eating.. then watching more.

But it was free entertainment all day long.

It actually turned out to be entertaining for the entire street.

All the neighbors gradually came out to watch. Cars all started to stop. The grown men were just as fascinated as all the little kids. Oh and the man driving the tractor had the biggest grin on his face when he finished and got down. Nice to see someone love their job so much.

I never realized something like this would help us get to know even more neighbors too.

It was seriously a really fun evening hanging out in the front with everyone.

Kinda strange watching it just be torn down knowing there were a lot of memories for some families just gone.

(ps: there are hopes of a community garden type thing being put here.. we'll see)

and then it bed time. stat. the kids were going NUTS.

But it was fun.

I dont necessarily want any other houses torn down in our neighborhood .. but if they were at least I know what we will be doing all day. ;)

  1. I loved your pictures! Y'all are great parents! I love that y'all brought lawn chairs. I was laughing at how seriously you took this free entertainment. And then the pics of the popcorn - really y'all are too funny!
