moving from PA to OH

If youre curious what a move looks like with 2 kids under 2 and a pregnant wife.. here you go! :) Its possible!

First of all lets set the record straight.. Freeland did all the hard work and all the moving. (as if there was any question to that) I did help unpack and get our house settled here in Ohio .. but as far as packing and getting us out of Pennsylvania goes .. I was pretty helpless. Yes, I packed some and helped some but some is a very relative term. I mostly watched the kids.

We started packing SUPER early. I feel like the last 2 months in Erie half our house was packed. But Freeland was on ER and we just werent sure what our days/time to pack would look like. And with 2 kids around you gotta plan ahead.

Also, we wanted to have it all done before graduation and family came in town so we could just focus (as much as possible) on those things!

Here is our house just days before the moving truck started getting packed:

complete shambles.

but lots of fun for the kids!

Especially when the truck arrived. It was like a little piece of heaven arrived:

Then while Wylder napped I took River out to lunch so Freeland could load up round one of the truck

And then came home to this:

River was especially in love once he realized he could DRIVE the big truck!

holy smokes. I think we should just rent one of these for his next birthday! ha

After one trip to Cleveland loading and unloading the truck Freeland drove back to Erie to do it all over again!

Poor exhausted guy! Thats a lot of work in one day!

and just as he started loading the truck for the second time.. look who graciously just showed up:

BILL! What a great friend! Without us asking he just came by to help! And it was seriously a HUGE help! (especially considering he was about to move too!)

They got the garage loaded up and everything they could that night and then Freeland woke up to do it again the next morning!

This time he had a helper:

Actually Drew was his helper this time. River moves too slow for Freeland's liking:

He got all those "last second" things out of the house and they headed off to cleveland one last time to unload again.

He wanted to make sure we packed his stuff too.

The next week we just stayed in Erie in an empty house with air mattresses and the kids cribs. It was actually pretty fun and provided lots of opportunity for snuggling on the living room floor!

Seriously .. an empty house is very entertaining for kids this age!

I loved that week just soaking up all our time in Erie in an empty house .. eating out all the time and playing with the toys we had left. Great memories.

If you were keeping track .. yes it took us 2 FULL truck loads of the largest budget truck they had. (and technically we rented a trailer for the drive down we did after graduation so add that to the mix too! ;) And that was after we got rid of so much stuff! Im already ready to downsize more here. Its crazy. I cant imagine if we had tried to move across the country what that would have looked like or cost.  (at this stage in our lives.. it will look different in 5 years when hopefully a contract is helping pay for our move) We can definitely see the Lords hands in that part of putting us in Cleveland! Phew

  1. If you're ever thinking you'd just love to give away all your furniture, I'll take it off your hands. :)

Glad the move went well! So wonderful to have a hard working hub to do the hard work!
