does this mean we are going to have a thumb sucker?

the good news - River found his hands.

the bad news - he wont stop searching for his thumb.

*all that noise is River kicking in his car seat.. oh and him sucking his hand

I mean seriously, the kids spits out his pacifier so he can chew on his hands.

Im praying this doesnt mean he is going to find his thumb.

and for those interested (family) here is a video of River talking to Freeland

  1. SO SWEET!! He looks just like his daddy.

  2. He is so sweet! You are so lucky! I think all babies nibble on their hands.. thats too cute! Thanks for sharing!

  3. chloe is nibbling/sucking her hands all the time too. i think it is totally a phase, course she actually prefers her pacifier most of the time. but regardless, i woudln't stress too much about the thumb, and think of it this way - you never have to worry about losing that, if he wants it to self-soothe, its there! and most babies grow out of it. there's an interesting section on that in the what to expect the first year book in month three.

ok anyway river is awesome. isn't mommyhood nuts? its fun to be able to comment again hehe :)

  4. Sometimes sucking on the hand indicates hunger, and sometimes it just means a need for sucking time. He's so ADORABLE and I wish you could bring River to Waco for all of us to fawn over him.

  5. As much as you don't want him to be a thumb sucker, I SSOOOOO BADLY want to help him find his thumb! I just want to pop it in his mouth and see the look of pure victory on his face!! If he could talk he would totally ask why you are sitting there videotaping instead of helping in the search.

    Very sweet videos.
