our little "powder" baby (he's actually darker than I am. sad huh?)

Dear Friends,

Im sorry I turned my comments off. And that I left them off for so long. That was rude of me. To be honest with you it was very freeing to have them off. I blogged without thinking about what someone would comment or say. My inbox was also shockingly empty. It was strange.

And even though it was nice - I always felt bad.. not letting anyone comment. It feels very one sided to be honest.

So .. the comments are back on.

Let me preface with this.. Im going to put LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of pictures of our son up on here... possibly even ones that are embarrassing to him because I love him so much & a little laughter never hurt anyone.. its all about building character, right? So please dont leave me comments about how Im exploiting him and he is going to hate me when he is older.. cause you know what? Its not going to keep me from doing it. Im going to exploit the heck out of him on here & if he doesnt like it - I will just ground him when he is older.

PS: my little rant had nothing to do with anyone that actually reads my blog. Im fully aware yall are all incredibly nice people & have never left me rude comments before! Thank you for that! But my friends have received comments on their blogs & so I just wanted to put it out there.

Im also fully aware that you could care less if my comments are on or off. so thanks for reading.

  1. i care! about your comments being on that is :) there are so many times i've wanted to post with a "congrats, he's precious!" or "LOVE that picture" but couldn't, SO here you go:

-congrats on the SWEET baby boy!!!
-i LOVE all the pictures of him, keep 'em coming :)
-i'm super excited your comments are back on, now i can let you know that i read your blog (as often as you update, obviously since i'm the first one to comment)

  2. I agree with Katie!! Sooooooo many times have I wanted to post saying congrats and how awesome River is! It's a shame that there are people out there that would write mean, ignorant comments, but I'm glad the comments are back on so I can tell you how awesome your blog is and how awesome you guys are! :-)

  3. I agree with the first two comments, I also wanted to say congrats. I, like other people, watch as you went from a newlywed married couple to new parents, and I wanted to say congrats. I also have a young son (almost 2 now), so I know the joys of it. You are in for a LOT of fun.. and a lot of running after him. :P Enjoy!

  4. I've lurked on your blog for yonks and was gutted I couldn't pass on congrats when your beautiful boy arrived! So...

Congratulations to you & Freeland on the birth of River. He's gorgeous and I hope you guys will be very blessed.

That looks like River's, "Really??!! Another picture, mom? This is going to be a really long life!" face I love seeing the pictures, and quite frankly I don't think you have very many posted. I'm sure I'll be the same way in about, say, oh, 7 weeks. Just sayin...

  6. I LOVE putting up pictures of my son. I just love sharing him with everyone and all the silly/cute things he does! I wouldn't ever call that exploiting your child...people are crazy! P.s. Your son is adorable! :)

  7. I'm so glad your comments are back on :) I've been aching to let you know how amazingly beautiful and precious I find you little River! Although, I expected nothing less from you and Freeland! I mean, that baby is seriously cute. Congrats!

  8. Congratulations Brooke! River is absolutely precious!! It has been fun to see all the pictures of him. Ps-I don't think you're exploiting him. If you are, I'm exploiting Annie too, so we're in this together. Hehe.
    Congratulations on your beautiful family!

  9. Just wanted to add another email in your inbox...just kidding...thanks for turning your comments back on and for posting amazing pictures of your little man. Those are some pretty dreamy eyes he has. Watch out girls!

  16. Hi! I found your blog through... I can't really remember ... but I've been reading for a while and enjoy your happy perspective on life! Just wanted to ask... is River wearing gdiapers? How are you finding them? I have a 1.5 year-old... he's been in gdiapers since he was born... and we're about to have another little babe in October... just wondering about your wearing/washing process before I've got two sets of cloth diapers to clean!
